Idaho Residential Rebate Eligibility and Guidelines

The following energy efficiency rebates are available for Idaho residential customers. Window rebates apply to customers in Idaho who heat their homes primarily with Avista electricity or natural gas. Water heating rebates apply to customers heating with Avista electric or natural gas. Conversion offers apply to Avista electric heat customers only.* Please see descriptions below for complete rebate requirements. All programs are subject to change and request for rebate must be submitted within 90 days of job completion. Offers apply to existing homes.

High Efficiency Equipment

Natural Gas Furnace/Boiler
A $300 rebate is available for installation of a high efficiency natural gas furnace or boiler of 90% AFUE (efficiency) or greater. Efficiencies for space and water heating equipment are verified according to the contractor invoice or Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI). www.ahridirectory.org.

Variable Speed Motor
A $80 rebate is available to Avista electric customers for installation of a primary heating forced air system that incorporates a variable speed motor. This rebate may be combined with a high efficiency rebate. New construction projects are eligible for this rebate. Tankless Water Heater
A $200 rebate is available for installation of a natural gas tankless water heater with an EF (efficiency) rating of 0.82 or higher. Efficiencies for space and water heating equipment are verified according to the contractor invoice or Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI). www.ahridirectory.org.

Heat Pump Water Heater
A $200 rebate is available for installation of a heat pump water heater with an EF (efficiency) rating of 1.8 or higher. NOTE: Heat pump water heaters are an energy efficient alternative for customers who do not have access to natural gas. To compare cost, please visit our cost calculator. Conversions from Electric - Existing Homes Only

Electric Central Ducted Forced Air Furnace to Air Source Heat Pump
A $700 rebate is available to Avista electric customers who replace electric straight resistance as their primary heat (i.e. electric forced air furnace or electric baseboard heat) with a central air source heat pump.*

Electric to Ductless Heat Pump
A $450 rebate is available to Avista electric customers who replace electric straight resistance as their primary heat (i.e. electric forced air furnace or electric baseboard heat) with a ductless heat pump. Ductless heat pump must have a HSPF of 9.0 or greater.

Electric to Natural Gas Water Heat
A $750 rebate is available to Avista electric customers who replace an electric water heater with a new natural gas water heater. This rebate may be claimed in addition to the high-efficient natural gas water heater rebate.

Electric to Natural Gas Furnace
A $1,500 rebate is available to Avista electric customers who replace electric straight resistance as their primary heat (i.e. electric forced air furnace or electric baseboard heat) with a central natural gas heating system. This rebate may be claimed in addition to the high-efficient natural gas furnace/boiler rebate.*

Electric to Natural Gas Direct Vent Wall Heat
A $1,300 rebate is available to Avista electric customers who replace their electric straight resistance baseboard heat with natural gas, direct vent, wall heaters. A free-standing, direct vent, natural gas stove is eligible to receive this offer. Please include with the application: description of the equipment, minimum/maximum BTU output, square footage of home and, if different, square footage of the main floor of the residence.

Must be controlled via thermostat.

*Customer usage will be reviewed and must demonstrate that at least 8,000 kilowatt-hours of electric straight resistance heat and less than 340 therms occurred in the last 12 months in order to be eligible for rebates related to space heat conversions.

Weatherization

Windows
A $1.50 per square foot rebate is available for the replacement of existing single pane or metal frame double pane to windows with a u-factor rating of 0.30 or lower. Windows are defined by window and frame not just glass replacement. Windows must be contractor installed. Contractor must provide new window documentation to include an itemized invoice with the following: total window square footage, u-factor, ratings, and cost. Window rebates requires a minimum of 8,000 kilowatt-hours or 340 therms annual usage.

Storm Windows
$1.00. Storm windows must be of the same opening type as the existing prime window. Storm window shall be permanently installed. Exterior storm windows shall be oriented with the low-e coating facing toward the interior of the house. For installations with metal framed prime windows the storm window's frame shall not be in direct contact with the prime window frame. Low-e Storm Windows: Storm windows must use glazing materials with an emissivity less than or equal to 0.22 and a solar transmittance greater than 0.55, as listed in the International Glazing Database (IGDB) measured in accordance with NFRC 300-14,NFRC 301-14 and NFRC 302-10.

Smart Thermostat Rebate:

Smart Thermostat Contractor Install
A $100 rebate is available for a contractor installation of a smart thermostat connected to the in home Wi-Fi. Thermostat must have Smartphone application available for customer to download or access via the internet.

Smart Thermostat Self Install
A $75 rebate is available for a customer installation of a smart thermostat connected to the in home Wi-Fi. Thermostat must have Smartphone application available for customer to download or access via the internet.

Residential Rebate Additional Conditions:

  • Primary fuel used for space heating must be Avista electric or natural gas service to qualify.
  • Request for rebates must be submitted within 90 days of completion of energy efficiency measure.
  • The rebates are available for primary residential single family up to a fourplex, including manufactured and modular homes.
  • Rebates are not available for seasonal or recreational homes or condos.
  • Only new equipment qualifies.
  • All improvements must be contractor installed to be eligible for rebate consideration.
  • Homeowners are responsible for complying with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Efficiencies for space and water heating equipment are verified according to the contractor invoice or Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI). www.ahridirectory.org
  • Avista reserves the right to verify installation of the energy efficiency measure(s) prior to payment and will coordinate inspection as applicable.
  • Avista, and its agents, may upon reasonable notice, request access to customer’s premises after payment, for evaluation and measurement purposes.
  • Rebates will not exceed 100% of the actual measure cost.
  • Rebates are paid directly to homeowner or homeowner can authorize payment release to contractors.
  • Allow 8 weeks for processing and payment of rebate.
