Changes to Avista's Energy Efficiency Programs

Residential Program Changes

Washington

  • 2013 Program Update - Posted January 4, 2013: Avista annually evaluates the energy savings and rebates associated with our efficiency programs. This evaluation may result in changes to the programs, the eligibility requirements, and/or the amount of rebate that is offered. These adjustments assist in Avista's strategy to offer our customers efficiency programs that provide energy savings for the most economical investment. These modifications may also be as a result of changes in the market that indicate the most energy efficiency equipment is consistently available and being purchased by the majority of consumers. • Natural Gas Program Update - Updated March 1, 2013: In June 2012, Avista announced the potential suspension of natural gas rebate programs. The wholesale price of natural gas has been declining for a number of years. While this is good news for customers through lower rates, these lower costs have added challenges to offering a comprehensive natural gas energy efficiency program. Natural gas continues to be the most efficient and most economical fuel choice to install and operate over time, but the cost of Avista's natural gas energy efficiency programs are projected to be higher than the estimated savings. However, these costs are continually analyzed, and if appropriate, programs could be reintroduced in the future.
  • As of March 1, 2013, rebates for natural gas furnaces, water heaters and insulation for natural gas heated homes continue to be available for Washington customers until further notice.
