How is the program funded?

The home energy audit pilot program is funded through a combination of Avista energy efficiency funds and federal stimulus dollars through the Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant (EECBG) program. Avista has partnered with the City of Spokane, Spokane County and the City of Spokane Valley to bring this program to participants at a significantly reduced cost.

The price a customer will pay for an audit will vary depending on the home's jurisdictional  location within Spokane County boundaries. The other variables include the electric utility provider and the primary type of heating fuel used. The value of a typical, comprehensive home energy audit without Avista and EECGB funding is approximately $400. The cost to the homeowner will be significantly less with this funding.

Avista is facilitating the implementation of this pilot program. Avista confirms the Home Energy Audit Contractors meet appropriate Building Performance Institute certification and background check requirements.
