When you flip the switch, you expect something to happen. And by maintaining a mix of hydropower, natural-gas, wind, biomass and coal generation, we deliver the stable, cost-effective, reliable energy you’re after.

We do it responsibly, too. In the decades ahead, we intend to meet more than half of our energy needs with renewable resources, conservation efforts and upgrades to increase efficiency in our plants. By 2017, for instance, we expect to add 300 megawatts of wind power alone. (One megawatt is enough to power 750 homes.) And our aggressive conservation programs should cut down overall energy use by almost 90 megawatts over the same time period.

Sustainable operating practices are nothing new for Avista. Since 1983, our Kettle Falls facility — the first power plant of its kind in the United States — has been producing clean electricity by burning 450,000 tons of wood waste every year.
