A good steward pays attention to the details — and when it comes to recycling, Avista is truly focused.
We’ve had an active, award-winning, and continually expanding recycling program since the mid-1980s.
The program employs a number of full-time developmentally disabled workers who help us recycle paper (including envelopes), corrugated cardboard, aluminum cans, plastic and glass bottles, magazines, newspapers, wood reels, phone books and batteries.
Avista doesn’t stop there, though. The company is also committed to recycling non-hazardous electrical equipment and materials. Working closely with recycling companies, the aluminum, copper, lead, and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals are reclaimed and recycled.
Not only is it good for the environment, but in the last five years our recycling efforts have saved Avista nearly $100,000 a year in refuse disposal costs.
