Communities thrive when rich, cultural resources are readily available and accessible to residents. From the urban to the rural areas of our service territory, Avista’s donations and grants support signature community events and programs that provide significant community identity and enhance the quality of life for everyone. We believe the arts are critical – they create jobs, attract visitors and generate spending that flows throughout the community, while offering creative and often magical opportunities for everyone.
The Power of Music
Supporting an event that encourages good old fashioned family fun with elements of art, culture and education is a rewarding experience. In 2010 Avista co-sponsored a family concert as part of the Festival at Sandpoint’s summer concert series in Sandpoint, Idaho. For over 25 years, this event has been enriching the lives of local and regional visitors by bringing talented musicians and performers into the community. Children of all ages were able to delight in the sounds of the Spokane Youth Symphony, enjoy an instrument petting zoo, and an animal petting zoo with an actual baby zebra, face painting, crafts, food and games.
Wattson©, Avista’s Energy Watchdog, entertained the kids while parents received complimentary compact florescent light bulbs. The power of music when shared with others inspires creativity and educates our youth. Sponsoring an event that encourages an appreciation for the arts is a cause that Avista proudly supports.
