Sometimes you don't have to look far to do some good.

Right in Avista's Spokane neighborhood sits Stevens Elementary.  More than 80 percent of the schoolchildren at Stevens live in poverty, so every year our employees donate school supplies and backpacks to scores of kids.  But they don't stop there.

Through the Lunch Buddies programs, employees mentor students and help provide the fundamentals of reading.  And it works, too.  Thanks to those relationships, Stevens' WASL reading scores have improved each year and our community's children are that much further along the way to educational success.
