Living on a fixed income means the unforeseen can hit hard.
We designed our Senior Energy Outreach to help seniors facing the unexpected hardship of higher energy bills. The program is intended to reach customers who may be reluctant to ask for assistance, who are paying energy bills rather than buying food or medicine, and who are not typically eligible for Project Share or Energy Assistance Grants for low or limited-income customers.
Senior Energy Outreach is available for Washington customers age 60 or older through a simplified phone certification process. Eligible Avista customers can get a $300 grant and eligible Avista non-heating customers can get a $100 grant. Senior Energy Conservation Workshops are held throughout our Washington and Idaho service territories at senior nutrition meal sites, senior centers and non-profit organizations. Each attendee receives an “Every Little Bit” energy conservation kit with CFL lightbulbs, home weatherizing supplies and energy savings ideas they can use in their home. The free workshops focus on energy savings and how to stay comfortable and safe with home energy use. If you’d like to schedule a workshop, e-mail us your request.
