Energy Assistance Programs

Lending a hand.

Sometimes people need a little extra help. And we'd like to lend a hand.

We partner with local agencies to offer grants for bill assistance, weatherization (such as insulation and air sealing) and heating system improvements to those who qualify.

Energy Assistance Grants are available for limited-income and low-income customers. These funds are distributed to qualifying customers through local community agencies and are made available through a combination of electric and natural gas tariff surcharges, government grants and contributions. The purpose of these programs is to reduce the energy cost burden among customers who are least able to pay energy bills.

Project Share Grants are created by gracious contributions to the Project Share fund from our customers, as well as directly from Avista and Avista employees. Customers can contact their community action agency to see if they are eligible to receive a one-time bill payment assistance.

Eligibility and Guidelines are determined by federal poverty guidelines. Customers are encouraged to contact their local community agency to determine their eligibility. View a sample of assistance guidelines (PDF).

Our CARES program aids customers facing hardships through a variety of ways, like special payment arrangements and access to referral agencies.

With our Senior Energy Outreach, Avista assists seniors on fixed incomes who are dealing with increasing energy costs along with their other living and medical expenses.

For assistance, please call us at 1-800-227-9187.

In addition to all our other programs, there may be tax credits available for families who qualify. For more information, see the links below.

For those who need it, Avista has complimentary translation services available 24 hours a day.
