Demand Controlled Ventilation Incentive Program
Avista offers incentives for the installation of demand controlled ventilation systems. Demand controlled ventilation measures the approximate number of people that occupy a space and resets the air intake rates based on the indicated occupancy instead of having the air intake rates set for maximum occupancy levels at all times.

Side-Stream Filtration Incentive Program
Avista offers incentives for the installation of permanent side-stream filtration systems on open loop chiller/cooling tower systems. Side-stream filtration systems are easily installed on new or existing systems.

Vending Machine Controller Rebates
Cold drink vending machines may seem like unlikely candidates for saving energy in your facility but they use more electricity then you might think. On average, each vending machine can cost more than $120 per year to operate. The energy is used primarily for running the machine lights and the refrigeration unit. Installing vending machine controllers can help save you money. Avista offers rebates to help offset the cost of purchasing vending machine controllers.

EnergySmart Program
Refrigeration represents the primary electricity expense in a supermarket or grocery store.  Significant improvements can be made to increase the efficiency of existing systems.  The EnergySmart program helps customers updrade qualifying equipment and streamline operations to get the highest possible energy savings.  We offer a complete no-cost energy analysis of the refrigeration systems and provide a customized report that outlines potential energy savings, incentive amounts, retrofit costs and simple paybacks.

Site-Specific (Custom) Incentives
Site-specific (custom) incentives are available for many energy efficiency projects that fall outside the parameters of our other prescriptive programs.  We can help identify opportunities within your facility that may help you operate more efficiently.  Examples of energy saving opportunities that may be identified include heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment, controls or other processes that may be unique to your facility.  To be eligible for site-specific incentives be sure to contact Avista at the beginning stages of your project.

Commercial Lighting Incentive Program
There are many benefits to changing out old, inefficient lights with more efficient lights. These benefits include enhanced lighting quality, energy savings, energy cost savings and reduced maintenance costs. In addition, Avista Utilities offers incentives for lighting retrofits and the installation of occupancy sensors.

Commercial HVAC Variable Frequency Drive Incentives
If you are using single speed motors to drive fans or pumps, you may be able to save energy through the use of a variable frequency drive. The variable frequency drive (VFD) can convert a single speed motor to variable speed with no modification to the motor itself. This can be an efficient way to convert, for example, constant volume air systems into variable volume. VFD's are readily available for motors from 1 hp to 300 hp and are easily installed directly into the power line leading to the motor, replacing the existing motor starter. Incentives are available for the installation of VFD's.

Premium Efficiency Motors Rebate
Instead of choosing a standard electric motor go premium! Premium efficiency motors have improvements over standard EPACT motors that result in reduced downtime and lower operating and maintenance costs. Avista Utilities offers to help pay for qualifying premium motors.

Power Management for Personal Computer (PC) Networks
Despite the fact that most personal computers (PCs) have the capability to shift to a low-power operating state after a specified period of inactivity, only a small fraction of those PCs actually do so. For companies that have numerous PCs, the wasted energy from computers that remain in the full-power "on" state even when they are idle can be significant. Software products that can simplify the process of implementing power management in large numbers of networked PCs are now available. Avista offers incentives for software solutions that meet the minimum criteria.

LED Traffic Signals
LED (light-emitting diode) traffic signals use 80% to 90% less energy than traditional incandescent traffic signals. Their energy use is 8 - 25 watts, depending on size and color, compared to a range of approximately 67 - 150 watts for incandescent lamps. LED lights also look brighter than incandescent lights. Equally important is how long they last. LED traffic signals can last as long as ten years compared to roughly two years for incandescent lamps. This translates to lower maintenance costs. Avista Utilities offers incentives that will help to reduce the initial purchase price of replacement LED traffic signals.

Steam Trap Replacement / Repair Rebates
Avista offers rebates for the repair or replacement of failed steam traps.  In steam systems that have not been maintained it is common for many of the steam traps to have failed.   This allows live steam to escape into the condensate return system.  Given that the steam systems may include a hundred or more traps, the energy losses can be substantial.  In many cases steam trap replacement or repair can pay for itself in months.

New!
Green Motors Initiative
Even the best new motors lose efficiency.  A bad repair/rewind can adversely affect all motor characteristics, reducing efficiency and reliability.  The green motors initiative ensures quality rewinding that results in the motor maintaining its original efficiency.  This is commonly called a "green rewind".  Incentives are now available for green rewinds.

Retro-Commissioning
Retro-commissioning is a systematic process for investigating, analyzing and optimizing the performance of systems that have never been commissioned.  Commissioning helps to insure that the major systems of a building operate correctly.  Incentives are available to eligible customers toward the cost of a qualifying retro-commissioning study.
