- Natural Gas Program Update - Posted January 25, 2013: In June 2012, Avista announced the potential suspension of natural gas rebate programs. The wholesale price of natural gas has been declining for a number of years. While this is good news for customers through lower rates, these lower costs have added challenges to offering a comprehensive natural gas energy efficiency program. Natural gas continues to be the most efficient and most economical fuel choice to install and operate over time, but the cost of Avista's natural gas energy efficiency programs are projected to be higher than the estimated savings.
